As a precautionary measure however, one must be wary of scraping dried molds. This is because scraping or brushing off dried molds may trigger the release of spores in the air, posing inhalation risks. Considering that the risks of getting in contact with spores is ever present, it is therefore highly suggested that when one is cleaning a mold infested area, one must always be adequately clothed to ensure that there is no skin contact. Wearing masks may also prove to be an effective means to avoid inhalation risks. Moreover, it was previously noted that assessment of the extent of the problem is preliminary before cleaning up the black molds in the area. This is because when the amount of molds infesting an area has grown to 2 feet, a professional help may already be needed as risks to one’s health in coming into contact with molds of that quantity may be high. But if the problem is still manageable, the steps in cleaning black molds as mentioned above may be undertaken. After cleaning though, one must make sure that the place or area is free from water incursions, is kept clean and dry with the humidity and moisture level as low as possible.
